The Parish Church of St Mary in Charnwood, Nanpantan

This position has now been filled.

Thank you for your interest.

Parish Administrator

15 hours per week; £12 per hour; 5 weeks paid leave pro-rata

We are looking for someone with a passion for organisation, who could support the vicar and church wardens in effecting the smooth running of the church and pursuing our vision to be ‘a community of deep faith, relevant and accessible to all and that reaches beyond its building’.

We hope to find someone who will share that vision and work with the assistant administrator and other volunteers to continue to develop our ways of working to be effective and in compliance with external requirements.

St Mary’s is a very friendly and welcoming church on the south-western edge of Loughborough. Our building is small but, rather like the Tardis, conceals a lot that is going on!  In normal times, we have around 100 worshippers each Sunday and run various midweek activities both on site and in the community.  We are blessed with well-maintained buildings, including a Chapter House for small meetings, and the beautiful church woodland where we have recently begun to hold Forest Church worship.

Despite the disruption of current times, we are prayerfully looking to the future and trusting God to lead us in living out our recent vision to be ‘a community of deep faith, relevant and accessible to all and that reaches beyond its building’.  We are looking for someone who could support the vicar and church wardens in effecting the efficient and smooth running of the church and parish in pursuit of that vision.

The role covers a wide breadth of areas, including administration, communication, and governance support.  However, you will not be alone!  Working closely with the vicar, you will have the support of a part time assistant administrator (working 6 hours per week) as well as many other church volunteers  - wardens, treasurer, safeguarding/GDPR/electoral roll officers as well as members of the finance, employment and fabric teams.  We also have good systems in place - ChurchSuite, Expense Plus and Microsoft 365 - and are currently working on a new website using Wix.  Don’t worry if these particular programmes are new to you - a willingness to learn, confidence to explore, and motivation to encourage others is more important.  We hope that you will be able to lead us in using the capabilities of these systems well and as appropriate for the church.

As we don’t have a parish office - this is an aspiration for the future - the role will be based at home in the first instance with regular meetings likely to resume in the parish once restrictions lift.  Travel expenses to a max of 10 miles round trip will be paid by the PCC.

Closing date for applications: Monday 26th October, 5pm

Interviews: Thursday 5th November
